Candelaria's Salt Ponds

This section of the trail comes from the east (right).  I haven't explored the trail in the first detour (to the right, blue).  But judging by the maps this trail is flat and long and probably has many thorn gardens!  It will end in the paved road several hectometers north of The Interpretative Center.
You will cross a dirt bridge that will take you to the red square.  This is a abandoned water box.  Several meters to the left of this square you will find a tree step stair, for sure the remaining of a long gone wood building (house or office).   Fifty meter to the north will take you to a large Salt mountain (if you are lucky).  After you had explored this area, continue in the main trail until you find Punta Águila (Map 6).   This trail measures approximately one (1) mile, from the road gate to Punta Águila.

This structure is marked by a red rectangle in the previous map.
Because of all the wall support I guess that this was a water cage or reserve!

  Punta Águila!

English invasion, 1585.

In this illustration the trail comes from the right (east).  There is a short trail that takes you to the
site of the next photo.  But if you don't take this trail and continue you will find Punta Águila (Eagle Point)
and its small Island.   The trail continues north and it will end in El Combate beach (1.8 miles).
