We started from the parking lot around 8:15 am.
The purpose of this trip was to explore the new route (for us) of
Las Pardas. This is the one marked by dark green line in the map.
We already had visited the trail marked in red and black. But our
friend always told me that the trail at Las Pardas were ...,
...., Hard
Core, for not using more descriptive expresions! We ride this
route and discovered that the route was indeed *&*(&^$%##)(*(&*&*(*&*&, etc, etc, )
!!!!
After we escaped with our lives from this route
we continued toward Manglillo. We made a detour toward the trail
that goes to the right in the map. But allready were 11:30 am, and
fatigue and heat made us return. We traveled only 16 miles.
People, ¡BUT WHAT 16 MILES! Some of the trails were beautiful.
I hope that in some weeks I could make a page for this route. I am
still back in my work, so this will take some time... but keep in touch
so when I finish the route page you could go for the adventure (just
take with you lots of water)!
We allready had
travel trough Las Pardas Beach, and were traveling toward Monte (Mount) Las Pardas.
At the background you can see Guánica Bay.
Héctor, jr. in Las
Pardas. Just guess the angle of the downhill at the left!
Both photos are from the same place. Just note
the angle of the downhill. In the photo at your right the soil
seems apropiated to ride. But the soil was more like the one in
the photo at your left, but worst. The rocks were larger in the
more steep zones of the hills. In other words, afther walking a
"un-climblable" hill, we found an "un-descendable"
hill. Then we found a partially climbable hill, followed by a
partially descendable. After that, an "un-climbable"
hill, followed by an "un-descendable" one! Ok, Ok, Ok
Stop, I understand! This could be paradise for lovers of Downhill, Free Ride or
for the "inocent ones" like us.
From left to right; Daniel, Daric, Jesús, Levante & Héctor.
At the background Las Pardas beach and behind the poles at your right, the
buildings at Playa Santa beach.
¡Here were were close to Manglillo! But allready were 11:30 am, and
decided to go back. The place was... "Pristine!"
This is what remained of us after so many "un-climbable" and
"un-descendable" hills.
This is at Playa Santa beach parking lot.
Final Words:
This part of Puerto Rico is IINCREDIBLY
BEATIFULL! In this days of island wide intense rains, this was the
only place were if it rained, was not much. But shamefully the
road that takes you from Encenada to Playa Santa (355) is full of
litter. The amount of litter was worst at the points 1, 2 and 3 of
the map; were we found various ilegal dumps.
I don't feel alone when people that ride
with me suffers as much as I from this. I am happy to know that I
am not alone. We are not part of the problem, but is very dificult
been part of the answer. This is education problem! We can
teach people and children no to litter, but is very dificutl to teach
them to pick other people's trash!
